Digital Learning Resources

4 Learning Resources for Teachers and Students.

Hello! For my first blog post I want to talk about some digital learning resources that teachers, students, and parents can use to improve and monitor all students/kids while using Bloom’s Taxonomy. Technology is changing and improving everyday I know it might be intimidating as parents, students, and even teachers to not be in the trend but I’m here to discuss 4 Digital platforms that can be used in classrooms and at home to improve and monitor students creativity, evaluate their work, analyze any skills that need improvement, apply skills, understand lessons, and remember though these resources.

Kahoot
Active Learning with Kahoot! – Instruction @ UH
Kahoot is a game-based learning platform that can be used to create, share, and complete quizzes in a fun way for students. Using a game-based learning platform is an excellent way to keep students intrigued while learning. This learning platform can be used in the classroom and at home for parents to help their children review and study for class. Many educators are using this platform to evaluate students and check their understanding of the subject matter. Kahoot is based on creating multiple choice test/quizzes in order to examine the students knowledge and understanding. The way Kahoot works is teachers create the quiz, students access the quiz by using their own device, students then enter their names, next the teacher sends or shows the students a code where they can access the quiz the teacher created, then the students answer all questions in a game based way with a timer and sound effects. Afterwards the teacher will be able to see a poll on what questions students got right, which ones students missed and more. This is a great platform for educators to use because it gives both teacher and students instant feedback on understanding and evaluating.

Khan Academy

Khan Academy is a great Digital learning resource that educators may use for different assignments and activities. This learning platform can be used to understand, evaluate, and remember according to Bloom’s Taxonomy. Khan Academy provides students with a range of different subjects such as math, reading, science and more which is great for all educators to keep tabs on students assignments and understanding. This platform offers students tutors, personal dashboards, helpful videos and more tools that can be used to complete homework assignments or any other activities as well. Khan Academy is also great for parents to be able to check on their children’s work and progress therefore the parents can practice and help their child improve on any academic skills. Teachers can track students progress by setting up homework assignments on this platform for their students to complete therefore if any student does not completely understand the homework or assignment the teacher will be aware and help them out as much as they can. This platform is a flexible learning tool that can be used in the classroom, at home, or on the go which is helpful for teachers and parents to monitor their progress.

Canva
Unveiling the Canva Visual Worksuite
Canva is a creative digital resource that students can use to create PowerPoints, Infographics, videos, websites, and more. This resource can be used by teachers and students in presentations and assignments. Parents can use this resource as well to help present information to their children in a fun way to help them learn and create their own. This is the prefect tool to use when assigned group assignments because the file can be shared amongst the group and each member can edit and share their creative thoughts though canva. Group assignments and projects help all students get to know their peers and practice social interaction that will be used for the rest of their lives. Teachers can use canva in many ways such as creating assignments, point powers, infographics, videos, worksheets, visual aids , and lesson plans all in which will help students learn in a visual and creative way.

BrainPOP
BrainPOP Offers Short Animated Films – E-Resources Blog
BrainPOP is one of my favorite digital resource! This resource helps students stay intrigued with the lesson by using fun, short, and creative videos. BrainPOP covers K-12 in all subjects like English, science, math, health and more. BrainPOP helps teachers explain the lesson in a creative way though these videos and quizzes generated to keep the kids interest therefore they don’t get bored and want to watch/learn  more with BrainPOP. When I was in elementary I remember all my teachers using it and how my class wouldn’t get bored because the videos, games, and quizzes made the lessons fun and interesting for the whole class. Progress can be kept as well which is important for teachers in order to track if the students are understanding the material being taught or if they need to go over the lesson in a different way.

All in all, there is many digital learning resources teachers, students, and parents can use to improve the students academic skills these are just some for you to check out. By researching as students and parents you can find and use many more resources. I encourage everyone to research and test out what apps and platforms work for you and your children because at home is where learning takes place not just in the classroom. Thank you for reading my first blog post I hope you enjoyed it and I hope this information was helpful for teachers, students, and parents.

Peace out - Ms.G <3
